Community Supported Agriculture

Community Supported Agriculture, or CSA for short, is a harvest box program that allows customers to support farmers by “buying into” the farm through the purchase of a farm share. This materializes into a weekly box of locally grown, certified organic produce. Buying a CSA share helps support farmers in the early season and ensures that you have a guaranteed source of fresh fruits and vegetables for the entire growing season.

A Blackwater Creek Orchard CSA offers:

Variety

We offer a 17 week main season box from July to October with an optional 5 week spring add-on that begins in May.

We guarantee that every main season box will have at least one fresh fruit item and all our produce is certified organic.

Customization

We have multiple choices every week so that you can choose more of what you like! We additionally have an online store so that you can add-on more of those items you just can’t get enough of.

Convenience

For people living in the D’Arcy to Mt. Currie area we offer delivery right to your door every week.

For Pemberton members we offer pick ups every Friday at the Pemberton Farmers Market so you can get your fruit and veg while getting all your other local shopping done!

Flexibility

Going on vacation or not going to be around for a delivery? No worries, we can always hold back your box and double up the next week or at another time of your convenience!

Value

Our main season share costs $476 for 17 weeks fresh produce ($28/week)

With the optional spring share of $100 for an additional 5 weeks ($20/week)

CSA members receive an extra 10% value in each box, making the value of the main season boxes $523.60 for the year (saving you $47.60) and the value of the spring share $110 (saving you $10).

  • Mt Currie to D’Arcy: Harvest boxes will be delivered to your door every Tuesday from June 25-October 22 (starting mid May if you sign up for the spring share). We suggest that you leave a dedicated cooler in a shady spot outside for us to place the produce in every week. Otherwise we will use our own totes and we ask that you leave the empty tote outside on the following Tuesday to exchange.

Pemberton: Harvest boxes will be available to pick up on Fridays from June 28- October 25 at the Pemberton Farmers Market between 3-6pm. We ask that you bring your own bag to carry your produce home with.

  • Each week you will receive a box with 6-9 items in it. Since we are first and foremost an orchard, there will always be some kind of fruit, whether it be a pint of strawberries, a cantaloupe or a bag of apples. Along with this you will receive a diverse amount of vegetables to make up the other items of your box, from fan favourites like carrots and tomatoes to fun seasonal additions like sweet peas and winter squash. Examples of other crops you will receive are kale, brocollini, peppers, lettuce, cucumbers, radish, onions…. and the list goes on! We will let you know at the beginning of the week through a newsletter what will be in your box so you plan your meals around the produce!

When buying a share in the farm, you are sharing the good and the bad of the season. We strive to bring you the most diversity possible, but if it is a cool and wet summer there may be less of the heat loving crops like tomatoes and melons and more cool weather crops. We plant a large diversity on the farm though so whatever happens in a season, you will always have delicious produce coming your way!

  • If you know you are going to miss a box please let us know ahead of time. If you will be home later in the week we can arrange for you to pick the box up from the farm (in Devine) or at the Pemberton Farmers’ Market later in the week. If you are gone for the whole week, we can double your next box. You can also always let a friend or neighbour enjoy your box while you are away. There are no refunds on boxes that you miss if you failed to inform us ahead of the delivery date.

  • 1. You get to eat the freshest produce. No more worrying about where your garlic or lettuce came from and how many hands it has passed through! We can assure you that our organic fruit and vegetables have been picked fresh from our farm and delivered straight to your plate.
    2. Variety! We grow over 50 different varieties of fruits and vegetables so that you will never get bored. CSAs are a great way to try new foods and new varieties of old favourites (Purple peppers anyone?)
    3. No hassle! We will deliver your produce right to your door every week so you don’t have to worry about going out. In Pemberton we offer a convenient pick-up location at the Pemberton Farmers market so that you can get your produce and shop around at Pemberton’s other local vendors.
    4. Receive weekly newsletters with updates from the farm and delicious recipe ideas that coincide with what’s in your box.
    5. Add on options will be available with every box through an online store. You will be able to purchase extra produce to add onto your share. If you’re feeling like some extra strawberries or peas, or if you just need some extra produce for a week, we have you covered.
    6. Winter and Spring for farmers is a time of investment with no returns. We need to buy all of our seeds and supplies for the whole season while still being months away from our first harvests. CSA programs help us stay afloat in these lean times and help ensure a successful season. Think of it as an investment into high quality local food!
